Family Therapy
Understanding the Family System
Professional interaction to identify conflict and move forward as a unit.
Each family has its own unique social system, structures, and communication processes. Family therapy is based on the understanding that family personality has a powerful effect on its members, often influenced by parents' beliefs, values, and the personalities of each member.
When one member experiences psychological difficulties, it may stem from a larger family problem. Through the sharing of views and understandings, we explore ways the family can co-operate, using the family's strengths to resolve anxieties and bring about positive change.
Situations where therapy helps
Family therapy provides a space to address various challenges and improve collective well-being.
Illness & Behavioural Challenges
Support when a member has a mental or physical illness, or when dealing with child, adolescent, and adult behaviour difficulties.
Parenting & Life Transitions
Navigating parenting issues, separation, divorce, and the complexities of re-marriage.
Crisis & Trauma
Addressing domestic violence, abuse, trauma, and the impact of drug or alcohol abuse within the family.
Understanding Functionality
Learning how the average family functions versus how your own unique family functions.
Unit Focus
Encouraging families to focus on the unit as a whole rather than separating or blaming an individual "afflicted" member.
Resolution & Commitment
Assisting in the realisation of conflicts and helping members become more committed to working on problems together.
