Concessions & Accommodations
Supporting Academic Success
Helping children and adolescents navigate examination challenges through formal assessment.
Concessions relate to special circumstances where learners find it difficult to cope during exams due to recognized learning or health disabilities. These accommodations ensure that a disability does not impact negatively on a student's true performance.
The process involves a comprehensive assessment and diagnosis. With your permission, I consult with teachers to understand the child's difficulties in the classroom, ensuring the final report provides the specific recommendations required by Education Authorities.
Available Accommodations
Depending on the diagnosis, the following concessions may be approved by Education Authorities:
Time & Support
Extra examination time and the appointment of a scribe or reader to assist the learner.
Technical Aids
Permission for computer usage, Braille, or large print for visually impaired students.
Environment & Breaks
Separate venues, rest breaks, and permission to take food or medication during exams.
Language & Writing
Spelling allowances and the adaptation or rephrasing of exam questions.
Physical Support
Physical support during exams or use of special equipment based on the learner’s needs.
Exemptions
In specific cases, exemptions from subjects like Mathematics or a Second Language may be granted.
